We ensure the freshness consumption up to 12 months after the date of production. The best before date is however not the expiration date as the coffee is not a perishable product. Both Vertuo and Original coffees are sourced from highly qualified coffees. However, the coffee flavors of the two series differ from each other. This is because Nespresso's coffee experts have carefully crafted the origin and roasting parameters of each coffee blend so that they can work perfectly with the new brewing system Centrifusion™, a licensed extraction technology developed by Nespresso. Original coffees have flavors developed in accordance with the classic Italian coffee experience and prepared by considering different parameters.
Vertuo consists of approximately 50 and Original 44 coffees. More than 94% of coffees for both series are sourced through the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program, which helps farmers adopt sustainability practices on their coffee farms and surrounding lands. Launched in 2003 with the Rainforest Alliance, the collaborative program helps increase harvest yield and quality, ensuring a sustainable supply of high-quality coffee and improving the livelihoods of farmers and their communities.
The Vertuo system and the Original system are completely different from one another. For this reason, the Vertuo system and the Original system work with different capsules.
Vertuo Next and Vertuo Pop are two different coffee machine models of the Vertuo system. Both machines work with smart barcode system and Centrifusion™ technology. The designs and the color options of machines are different. Due to Vertuo Pop's minimal design, Carafe and XL accessories are not suitable with the machine. Therefore, our Carafe Pour Over Style, XL and Cold Brew coffees are not convenient with Vertuo Pop.

This is because Nespresso's coffee experts are perfect with their new brewing system Centrifusion™, a licensed extraction technology developed by Nespresso. The origin and roasting parameters of each coffee blend have been carefully selected, so that they can work properly. Original coffees have flavors developed in accordance with the classic Italian coffee experience and prepared by considering different parameters.
Although we cannot provide information about the coffees that are not yet on sale and will be offered in limited edition in the future, we are constantly working on innovations about coffees and systems and always try to offer new experiences for coffee lovers.
The two systems are quite different from each other and appeal to two different coffee consumption habits. For those looking for the classic espresso experience, we recommend Original coffee machines. We recommend Vertuo coffee machines for coffee lovers who prefer to consume large sizes of coffee or different cup sizes throughout the day.
Original and Vertuo are two different systems and have different technologies. Therefore, there are various factors that affect pricing strategies. The product prices of the Vertuo system reflect its innovative technology and versatile coffee preparation feature.
Thanks to its innovative Centrifusion™ technology, Vertuo allows you to prepare coffee varieties prepared with different blends in more cup sizes in a single machine. In addition, thanks to the barcode technology on the coffee capsules, Vertuo coffee machines recognize the brewing parameters defined specifically for each coffee capsule and prepare your quality Nespresso coffee automatically in the most ideal way.
The Original system is one of the most successful serving coffee systems and is part of the coffee drinking rituals of millions of consumers. We are also investing in this revolutionary and much loved system, developing new products and diversifying them, and we do not plan to stop selling for the satisfaction of Nespresso enthusiasts.
All Vertuo capsules are recyclable, just like Original capsules. You can leave the coffee capsules you use in the recycling areas of Nespresso Boutiques.
Americano is a coffee-based recipe that consists of adding hot water to espresso without foam. The Vertuo system, on the other hand, brings the signature of espresso to the coffee world by producing both Espresso and espresso-style large cups of frothy coffee. The foam preserves the aromas of coffee, allowing coffee lovers to benefit from the full aromatic profile of coffee.
The in-cup sensory result for espresso brewed with Centrifusion™ technology is similar to the traditional through high-pressure brewing method. The centrifusion method is a new brewing technique discovered with the development of technology.
The amount of caffeine is different for each coffee and depends on two factors. The ratio of Robusta in the blend (Robusta contains twice as much caffeine than Arabica) and the amount of ground coffee used to prepare the cup are factors that affect the caffeine ratio.
Caffeine content in Vertuo coffees varies depending on cup size and coffee blend:
Espresso (40ml): 70-100mg/cup
Coffees, Mug, Xlarge: 170-200mg/cup
Carafe (535ml): 230-250mg/2-3 cups
Half Caffeinato: 70mg/cup
Decaffeinato/Decaf: 3-6mg/cup
The froth of coffee occurs naturally and is only produced by the combination of coffee and air. The foam formed during the extraction process is a sign of the final coffee quality, which makes it easier to drink and increases the taste. The foam retains the coffee aromas and keeps them in the cup until the drinker sips their coffee. Vertuo is the first system to deliver the foam that is part of the traditional espresso experience in an oversized cup.
The name Vertuo is derived from the word "Virtuoso" (Virtuoso), meaning to master a specialty. With this name, we aim to bring Nespresso's quality coffees and unique coffee experience to all coffee lovers and to support coffee lovers to master coffee.

In Nespresso Vertuo, each coffee blend has specific brewing parameters and strikes a fine balance between the flavor of the coffee and its preparation settings. Nespresso Vertuo coffee machines has an intelligent extraction system that recognizes each capsules brewing parameters (such as temperature, flow rate, spin speed and time the water comes in contact with the coffee) to deliver the ideal coffee. Each coffee offers a unique flavor with its own unique blend and extraction parameters.
Each Vertuo coffee capsule has specific brewing parameters. Thanks to the barcode technology on the capsules, the machine recognizes the brewing parameters defined specifically for the coffee, adjusts the parameteres and prepares the coffee. Therefore, the temperature cannot be adjusted.
The temperature is a designed parameter to ensure the best result in-cup and is different from one blend to another. Each blend is specifically created (strict bean selection, expert blending, roasting and grinding) for the best interplay and harmony with the specifically defined brewing parameters produced by the Nespresso VertuoLine machine.
In general, coffees can be consumed directly after brewing. If you wish to drink your coffee hotter, you can preheat your cup by rinsing it with hot water and we also advise to warm up your milk before mixing it with the coffee.
Some coffees with more delicate aromatic notes are prepared with a slightly lower temperature profile that helps preserve those special notes. Some coffees that tend to have more body and higher density can be brewed at a higher temperature.

A pure origin or single origin coffee is made of coffees coming from the same country of origin. At Nespresso, each “pure origin” is exclusively and genuinely composed (100%) of coffees coming from a single country of origin and even limited regions that offer unique profiles. We perform rigorous sampling and testing to ensure that we have only 100% pure origins.
Nespresso coffee experts look for only the finest beans with a particular taste and specific aromatic characteristics, to create the Nespresso all coffee blends. Each coffee is evaluated through tasting to ensure that the coffee meets the Nespresso quality standards and matches the exact aroma profiles.
Nespresso is committed to offering its consumers only the finest gourmet coffees. Throughout the year, Nespresso green coffee experts and their green coffee supply partners ensure these highest quality standards by actively seeking out such coffees cultivated in farming communities in the world premium coffee-producing areas. These are often remote regions, where a combination of altitude, climate and rich soil produce the distinctive flavors, aromas and complex character that make up Nespresso Coffee.
The coffees used by Nespresso are sourced primarily from nine countries: Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kenya, Ethiopia and India.
All the coffee capsules are produced in Switzerland, in the Nespresso Production Centres of Orbe and Avenches. The coffee capsules are then shipped worldwide from the Avenches site.
