We chose aluminum as our packaging material not only because of its unique attributes, but also because it is 100 % recyclable. Recycled aluminum preserves 95 % of the same energy which would go into making new aluminum.
The Nespresso capsules are internally covered with a food-approved protective film that prevents the coffee from coming into contact with the aluminum. Even though the capsules do not decompose in the nature, they are 100 % recyclable. The ground coffee does not need to be separated from the capsule before throwing it to metal collection.
