What is the Caffeine content in Nespresso Coffees?
The quantity of caffeine depends on the Grand Cru and it is defined by the proportion of Robusta in the blend (Robusta containing more caffeine than Arabica) and the grammage of coffee per capsule.
The ristretto range (25 ml) varies from 60 to 80 mg caffeine per cup. Kazaar is an exception as it is very high in Robusta and contains 120 mg caffeine. The Lungo coffees (110 ml) range from 60 to 80 mg caffeine per cup.
The caffeine level in Nespresso decaffeinated Grands Crus is below 0.1% on the unroasted coffee, which equals to maximum 6 mg caffeine per cup (as compared to 50-120 mg for the caffeinated range). There are always some traces of caffeine left in the bean after the processing, which is why the coffee does not become completely caffeine free.
